DRAWING | MEDICAL PRACTICE WEBSITE PHYSICIANS / CLINICS / DENTAL

Patients judge your care by your website before they ever call.

Before someone in Aurora or Naperville books with a new physician, they look the practice up. We design medical practice websites that feel the way good care feels: calm, clear, and credible.

Hunter Creative Media & Design is a web design studio in Aurora, IL building hand-coded websites for independent physicians, specialists, small clinics, functional and integrative medicine practices, and dental practices across Chicago’s western suburbs. Fast pages, plain answers to the questions patients actually check, and local SEO that gets your specialty found in your town, all at flat-rate, published pricing.

Diagnosis / Why Practice Websites Fail

The first exam happens online, and it’s of you.

Here’s how a new patient actually arrives: a referral from a friend or another provider, a quick Google search of your name or your specialty plus their town, a glance at your reviews, and then your website. In those thirty seconds they’re not evaluating your training. They can’t. They’re evaluating the only thing they can see: whether the experience of finding you feels careful or careless.

A slow, dated, confusing website reads (fairly or not) as a slow, dated, confusing practice.

Most medical websites fail in one of two directions. Hospital-system pages are corporate by design: the physician is a thumbnail in a directory, the branding belongs to the network, and the patient can’t feel who they’d actually be sitting across from. Template medical sites fail the opposite way: they’re interchangeable. The same stock stethoscope photo, the same “compassionate care” paragraph, the same layout as three other practices in the same suburb.

An independent practice has an advantage neither of those can fake: a real physician, a real philosophy of care, and a real community. Our job is to design a site where that comes through, and where every practical question a patient has is answered before they have to ask it. That’s not decoration. In a field where the product is trust, the website is the first clinical impression you make.

Chart Review / What Patients Check

Six questions every patient asks. Your site should answer all of them.

Patients don’t browse practice websites; they interrogate them. Before anyone books, they run down the same short mental checklist. We structure every medical site we build around answering it: plainly, quickly, on the first screen it belongs on.

01
“Do they treat what I have?”
A dedicated, plain-language page for each major condition and service line, not a comma-separated list buried on the homepage. These pages are also exactly what Google ranks for “specialty + town” searches, so the same work that reassures patients is the work that brings them in.
02
“Do they take my insurance?”
An insurance and fees page a patient can scan in ten seconds: accepted plans listed by name, self-pay or membership pricing explained if you offer it. This is the single most-called-about question in most front offices; putting it on the site saves your staff hours a week.
03
“Can I get in?”
Scheduling wired to whatever you already use: an embedded scheduler, a patient-portal link, or a clear request-an-appointment path with click-to-call for patients who’d rather dial. Booking happens in your systems; the website’s job is to make the path unmissable.
04
“Who is this doctor?”
A real bio with a real photograph: credentials translated into human terms, and a sense of how you actually practice. For an independent physician this page does more persuading than any other; it’s the one a hospital directory can never give you.
05
“Where are they, and is it easy?”
Location, hours, parking, and a map that works, with directions framed from the towns you actually draw from. Paired with a tuned Google Business Profile, it means the practice that shows up on Maps matches the practice on the site.
06
“Can I trust them?”
Your existing Google reviews surfaced on the site, affiliations and board certifications where patients expect them, and a design calm enough to carry it. We never fabricate testimonials. We make the proof you’ve already earned visible.
Case File / Dr. Samiya Hashmi, MD

What this looks like when it’s done for a real physician.

Before Dr. Samiya Hashmi MD website before the redesign by Hunter Creative Media & Design
After Dr. Samiya Hashmi MD functional medicine website redesign by Hunter Creative Media & Design

Dr. Samiya Hashmi is a functional medicine physician whose practice is built on whole-body wellness: long consults, root-cause thinking, care that doesn’t fit a seven-minute-visit mold. Her old website said none of that. So we rebuilt it from the ground up: a calm, editorial design that carries the whole-body wellness brand, service pages that explain functional medicine in a patient’s language rather than a clinician’s, and a consult-booking path that makes the next step obvious from every page.

The result is a site that feels like her practice, not like a hospital network, and not like a template with her name typed in. That’s the standard for every medical build we take on: when a prospective patient lands on the site, they should be able to feel what sitting in your exam room is like. You can read the full teardown (what was broken, what we changed, and why) in the Samiya Hashmi case study.

Scope of Care / HIPAA & Your Website

What your website touches, and what it never should.

Let’s be precise, because vendors in this space often aren’t. HIPAA governs systems that store or transmit protected health information. A practice’s marketing website, built correctly, is not one of those systems, and we keep it that way on purpose. Your site presents the practice and routes patients to the right door; everything clinical stays inside the compliant tools you already run.

On the Website: We Build This

The public, marketing side of the practice.
  • Condition and service pages, written for patients
  • Provider bios, philosophy of care, and practice story
  • Insurance accepted, fees, and new-patient information
  • Location, hours, parking, and directions
  • Links and embeds that hand off to your scheduler or portal
  • Contact forms that collect name, contact info, and a general message, nothing clinical
  • Your Google reviews, surfaced as on-site proof
  • Local SEO structure and Physician / LocalBusiness schema

In Your Compliant Systems: We Don’t Touch It

Anything involving protected health information.
  • Patient records and your EHR / practice management system
  • Intake forms that ask about symptoms, history, or medications
  • Appointment booking data inside your scheduler or portal
  • Patient messaging, telehealth, and follow-up communication
  • Billing, claims, and payment records

// PLAIN TERMS: the website hosts no PHI, asks for none, and stores none. When a form or button needs to collect anything clinical, it routes the patient into your existing compliant intake, not into the website’s database. That boundary is drawn deliberately at the start of every build.

Reach / Found & Readable

Built to be found in your town, and readable by every patient.

Local SEO for Specialties

Patients search “specialty + town,” so that’s what we build for.

Nobody Googles just “doctor.” They search “functional medicine Naperville,” “family dentist Aurora,” “internist near me.” Every practice site we build is structured for those searches: a page per service line, location signals throughout, and Physician and LocalBusiness schema that tells Google exactly who you are and where you practice. It’s the same local architecture behind our Aurora and Naperville web design work, tuned for medicine.

And because medical practices live and die on Google Maps, the site is only half the job. Your Google Business Profile (category, reviews, photos, weekly activity) decides whether you appear when a patient searches from their couch. We offer Google Business Profile management alongside the build so the site and the map listing reinforce each other instead of contradicting each other.

Accessibility by Default

Your patients aren’t all twenty-five. Your website shouldn’t assume they are.

A meaningful share of the people reading your site are older, on a phone, in bright light, possibly anxious about a health question. So we build WCAG-minded as a default, not an add-on: real color contrast on the paper-and-ink palette, body type sized for actual reading, keyboard and screen-reader-friendly structure, buttons big enough for real thumbs, and motion kept quiet for anyone who’s asked their device to reduce it.

Accessibility overlaps almost perfectly with what makes a site convert: legible, fast, unambiguous. And because every page is hand-coded (no page-builder bloat, no plugin stack), the site loads fast even on a weak signal in a waiting room. Speed is a courtesy to patients and a ranking factor for Google; we take it seriously for both reasons.

Flat-rate, published pricing. No mystery quotes.
Practice websites follow the same rate card as everything we build: most land at Growth (a multi-page site with your services, insurance, and provider pages), while single-provider startups sometimes begin at Launch and scheduling-heavy builds go Custom. You’ll know the number before we start.

Consult Notes / Common Questions

Questions physicians and practice managers actually ask us.

Q.01
Is a medical practice website HIPAA compliant? Does it need to be?
HIPAA applies to systems that store or transmit protected health information (PHI), and a marketing website, built correctly, never should. The sites we build don’t host patient records, don’t collect symptoms or health histories, and don’t touch your EHR. Contact forms collect only a name, contact info, and a general message, and anything clinical routes patients to your existing compliant intake, portal, or phone line. We keep that boundary deliberate and clearly drawn, so the website stays a marketing asset, not a compliance liability.
Q.02
Can patients book appointments through the website?
Yes, by connecting to the scheduling system you already use. We embed or link your existing scheduler or patient portal so booking happens inside your compliant system, not on the website itself. For practices without online scheduling, we design a clear request-an-appointment path with click-to-call, so patients always know exactly how to get in.
Q.03
Should our site list insurance and services?
Absolutely. Insurance accepted and conditions treated are two of the first things patients check before booking, and two of the most common things missing from practice websites. We build a scannable insurance and fees page and a dedicated page for each major service line, written in plain language. Those service pages are also what rank in Google for “specialty + town” searches, so they pull double duty.
Q.04
How fast can a practice website launch?
Most practice websites launch in two to four weeks, depending on how many service pages we’re writing and how quickly content gets approved. Because our sites are hand-coded (no page builders or plugin stacks), there’s no drawn-out platform setup, and the pages load fast from day one. See pricing and what’s included for the full breakdown.
Q.05
Do you work with practice managers, or does the physician need to be involved?
Most of our practice builds run through the practice or office manager. We typically need the physician for one short conversation about how they talk to patients, plus a photo session and final approval. Everything else, from content drafts to launch checklists, we handle directly with your manager. We know clinical schedules don’t leave room for web projects.

Your next patient is looking you up tonight.
