How Dr. Samiya Hashmi’s New Website Positions Her as Chicago’s Go-To Functional Medicine Doctor

Healthcare is one of the hardest industries to market online. Patients are skeptical, Google is strict about medical content, and the competition includes massive hospital systems with six-figure marketing budgets. For an independent practitioner, your website has to do serious heavy lifting.

Dr. Samiya Hashmi, a board-certified functional medicine doctor in Chicago, needed a site that could stand on its own against the big players. Her old one couldn’t.

01 The Problem: Expertise Without a Platform

Dr. Hashmi has over 15 years of experience and has helped more than 1,000 patients with everything from chronic fatigue and gut health to hormone optimization and longevity. She’s a published thought leader with a podcast and a science-backed approach to whole-body wellness.

But her website wasn’t telling that story.

Before

After
Dr. Samiya Hashmi website after redesign: professional, conversion-focused functional medicine design
Before → After: the Dr. Samiya Hashmi, MD homepage, rebuilt by Hunter Creative Media & Design.

The old site had the issues we see frequently with independent healthcare practices:

  • No clear specialty focus: visitors couldn’t immediately understand what made Dr. Hashmi’s approach different from a standard primary care doctor
  • No patient conversion path: people interested in functional medicine had no easy way to book a consultation directly from the site
  • Credentials buried or absent: the years of experience and patient outcomes weren’t front and center where they could build confidence
  • No educational content: in functional medicine, patients need to understand the approach before they commit. The site wasn’t educating anyone
  • Generic healthcare look: nothing about the design communicated the holistic, personalized nature of functional medicine

When your practice is built on a fundamentally different philosophy of care, your website needs to communicate that difference in the first five seconds. Dr. Hashmi’s wasn’t getting close.

02 What We Built: A Patient Acquisition System Disguised as a Website

We rebuilt Dr. Hashmi’s digital presence from the ground up with two goals: establish authority immediately, and make booking a consultation effortless.

Hero Section That Leads With Credentials

“Whole-Body Wellness, Rooted in Science”: the headline establishes the philosophy in six words. Right below it, three stats do the credibility work: 15+ Years Experience, 1,000+ Patients Helped, 100% Personalized Care. A visitor knows exactly who they’re dealing with before they scroll.

Consultation Form With Condition-Specific Dropdown

This was a key design decision. The booking form includes a dropdown for the patient’s primary concern: Fatigue, Sleep, Anti-Aging, Gut Health, Hormone Therapy (Female), Hormone Therapy (Male), Weight Loss, Nutritional Optimization, or Longevity Health.

This does three things at once: it shows the breadth of conditions Dr. Hashmi treats, it pre-qualifies the patient, and it makes the patient feel seen. Their specific issue is listed, which signals “you’re in the right place.”

Conditions Grid That Educates and Validates

A five-column grid breaks down the key conditions treated (Fatigue & Low Energy, Sleep Issues, Anti-Aging, Hormone Imbalances, and Gut Health), each with an icon and brief description. Patients who are Googling symptoms can immediately match their experience to what Dr. Hashmi treats.

This section is critical for functional medicine specifically because many patients don’t know that functional medicine exists as a solution for their problem. Seeing their condition listed alongside a clear description of the approach helps bridge that knowledge gap.

Doctor Bio With Photo and Credentials

We gave the bio section prime real estate: a professional photo alongside a detailed background section. In healthcare, patients aren’t buying a service; they’re choosing a person to trust with their health. Seeing Dr. Hashmi’s face, reading her credentials, and understanding her philosophy converts visitors who might otherwise bounce to a faceless hospital system website.

Podcast and Resources Section

Dr. Hashmi produces educational content through her podcast and other channels. We built a dedicated section to showcase this thought leadership. For patients who aren’t ready to book yet, this gives them a way to engage with Dr. Hashmi’s expertise at their own pace, and stay in the funnel until they’re ready.

03 The Design Language: Wellness Without the Clichés

Healthcare websites tend to fall into two traps: cold and clinical, or over-the-top wellness with watercolor backgrounds and stock photos of someone doing yoga on a mountain. Neither works for functional medicine.

We designed Dr. Hashmi’s site with intention:

  • Deep green (#00573F) as the primary color: professional, grounded, associated with health and growth without being cliché
  • Coral (#E8956B) as the accent: warm, approachable, inviting. It softens the clinical feeling without undermining credibility
  • Serif headings (Playfair Display): conveys authority and expertise
  • Clean body text (Inter): keeps everything readable and modern
  • Generous whitespace: lets the content breathe, which mirrors the patient experience Dr. Hashmi offers

Every color, font, and spacing decision was made to communicate: this is a serious medical professional who takes a warm, personalized approach to your health.

04 The Technical Foundation

  • Hand-coded for performance: no WordPress bloat, no plugin vulnerabilities, no page builder overhead. The site loads fast and stays secure
  • Healthcare SEO structure: proper heading hierarchy, condition-specific content, Chicago location targeting, schema markup for medical practice
  • Mobile-first responsive: most patients searching for health solutions are on their phones, often late at night when symptoms are keeping them up. The mobile experience is seamless
  • Multiple CTAs throughout: every section has a path back to the consultation form, because a patient might decide to book at any point in their journey through the site
  • Accessibility: clean semantic HTML, proper contrast ratios, readable fonts, because a healthcare website should be usable by everyone

05 The Takeaway for Healthcare Practices

Independent practitioners often think they can’t compete with hospital systems online. That’s wrong. What you can’t do is compete with a template website and zero strategy.

A patient searching for “functional medicine doctor Chicago” isn’t looking for the biggest healthcare system. They’re looking for a specialist. Someone who understands their specific problem. Someone who feels trustworthy and accessible.

Dr. Hashmi’s new site delivers exactly that. It positions her as the authority, builds trust immediately, and makes booking a consultation the easiest thing on the page. That’s what a healthcare website should do.
