How Air Cortez Houston Went From Losing Leads to Booking Jobs Online
HVAC is one of the most competitive local service industries in the country. In a market like Houston (where AC isn’t a luxury, it’s survival), every HVAC company is fighting for the same homeowner who just Googled “AC repair near me” on the hottest day of the year.
When Air Cortez came to us, they had the skills, the certifications, and the reputation. What they didn’t have was a website that could compete.
01 The Problem: A Website That Was Losing the First Impression
Air Cortez is a Houston-based HVAC specialist offering same-day AC repair, installation, heating services, tune-ups, duct cleaning, and maintenance. They’re licensed, insured, and experienced. But their website didn’t communicate any of that effectively.

The old site had the problems we see constantly in home service businesses:
- No clear value proposition: visitors couldn’t immediately understand why Air Cortez was the right choice over the dozen other HVAC companies in Houston
- Buried contact information: in an industry where people need help NOW, making them hunt for a phone number or form is a death sentence for conversions
- No trust signals: no pricing transparency, no guarantees, no certifications front and center
- Generic, template look: indistinguishable from every other HVAC site built on a page builder
- Slow load times: when someone’s AC is broken in August in Houston, they’re not waiting around for a slow site to load
In home services, the website that loads fastest, looks most professional, and makes it easiest to take action wins the job. Air Cortez’s old site was losing on all three counts.
02 What We Built: A Lead-Generating Machine for Local HVAC
We rebuilt Air Cortez’s entire web presence with a single focus: turn every visitor into a booked job or phone call.
Trust Indicators Above the Fold
The moment someone lands on the new site, they see three things: Same-Day Service, Licensed & Insured, and Upfront Pricing. These are the three biggest concerns a homeowner has when hiring an HVAC company, and we answer all of them before they scroll a single pixel.
Free Estimate Form Right in the Hero
No clicking through to a contact page. No hunting for a phone number. The estimate request form is embedded directly in the hero section with a service type dropdown (AC Repair, Heating Repair, Tune-Up, New System Installation, Duct Cleaning, Indoor Air Quality, Annual Maintenance). The visitor picks their problem, fills in their info, and submits. Done.
The Promise Bar
Directly below the hero, a four-column promise strip reinforces credibility: 100% Satisfaction, Same-Day Emergency, Transparent Pricing, Licensed Pros. This is where hesitant visitors get the reassurance they need to scroll further or pick up the phone.
Service Cards With Clear Descriptions
Each service gets its own card with an image background and hover animation. Instead of a generic “Services” page with a wall of text, visitors can visually scan the services grid and click directly into what they need. This reduces bounce rate by giving people exactly what they’re looking for.
Transparent Pricing Section
This was a big strategic decision. Most HVAC companies hide their pricing because they want to get you on the phone first. We went the opposite direction: a three-tier pricing display (Tune-Up at $79, Annual Plans, System Replacement with financing) with a “MOST POPULAR” badge on the mid-tier option.
Why? Because price transparency builds trust instantly. A homeowner comparing three HVAC websites will gravitate toward the one that’s upfront about costs. The companies that hide pricing look like they have something to hide.
Location and Hours Front and Center
A persistent top bar shows the Houston, TX location, business hours (Mon-Sat 9am-6pm), and a clickable phone number. On mobile, that phone number is one tap to call. For a service business, reducing the steps between “I need help” and “I’m calling” is everything.
03 The Technical Edge
In HVAC, you’re competing against companies spending $50-$100 per click on Google Ads. Your organic presence has to be sharp:
- Hand-coded for speed: no WordPress, no page builder, no bloat. The site loads fast on any connection, which matters for Google’s Core Web Vitals and for impatient homeowners
- Local SEO structure: proper heading hierarchy, schema markup for local business, Houston-specific content throughout, all the signals Google needs to rank the site for local HVAC searches
- Mobile-first design: over 70% of “near me” searches happen on mobile. Every element was designed for thumb-friendly interaction first, desktop second
- Service selector form: the dropdown pre-qualifies leads before they even submit, so the Air Cortez team knows exactly what the customer needs when the inquiry comes in
- Embedded map and contact section: for local service businesses, showing your location on a map builds trust and helps with local search signals
04 Why Home Service Businesses Need More Than a Template
Here’s the pattern we see constantly: an HVAC company (or plumber, or electrician, or roofer) pays $200/month for a generic website from one of the big website mill companies. The site looks fine. It technically works. But it converts at maybe 1-2% because it does nothing to differentiate the business from every other contractor in town.
Meanwhile, the competitor who invested in a properly built site (with clear value propositions, embedded forms, trust signals, transparent pricing, and local SEO fundamentals) is pulling leads from organic search while spending a fraction on paid ads.
Air Cortez now has a website that works as hard as their technicians do. In a market as competitive as Houston HVAC, that’s not a luxury. It’s how you survive.
